Moraga Neighborhoods: Rheem Valley Manor
Info provided below was obtained from usually reliable
sources but is not guaranteed. There may be some inaccuracies.
Homes pictured below are examples only and, to my knowledge, are NOT currently on
the market.
One
of the major advantages to the Rheem Valley Manor neighborhood is its central location in Moraga
so close to everything in town: near the two shopping centers-Rheem
Shopping Center and Moraga Shopping Center, near the Commons Park, the
Moraga Library, St. Mary’s College, near the Lafayette-Moraga Trail.
Over the years this has been one of Moraga’s most desirable
neighborhoods. It ranks along with The Bluffs area off Bolinger Canyon
Road as the two neighborhoods consistently having the highest average
sales prices in Moraga under Sanders Ranch, a newer, gated community of
upper end homes.
If you drive through the Manor, you will see the pride
of ownership in the many beautifully maintained homes. Most lots average
from 1/3 acre to 1/2 acre. The trees are mature and most homes have nice
privacy. Commuters have their choice of going to Lafayette via Moraga
Road, or going up Rheem Boulevard to Glorietta to Moraga Way. During
commute hours it usually takes from 10 to 20+ minutes to reach Hiway 24
and BART. Too long a drive? Most Moragans don’t mind. They love the
seclusion and quiet of Moraga.
There are approx. 450 homes in this subdivision. Most
were built around 1973. Harold Smith Construction was the primary
builder. His reputation has always been for
building high quality homes. Woolridge Construction, another local
builder, also built some homes here. The homes are generally one-story
ranch style homes although there are a few two-story homes.
There is little turnover in this neighborhood
each year but some homes do become available. Many home sellers are
original owners. Homes that sell often go to young families with
children who have moved here for the schools.
